Several members of the team participated in the ICES annual science conference in Bilbao, Spain

11-14 September 2023 – Several members of the team were in Bilbao, Spain for ICES ASC 2023. Alessandro Cresci presented his work, “Effects of low-frequency continuous noise on behaviour of cod larvae (Gadus morhua) in situ” in the session on “Ecosystem science needed to support a new era of offshore marine renewable energy“. Caroline Durif participated in WGEEL meetings and presented her work (co-authored by Alessandro, Howard and Anne Berit Skiftesvik, et al.), “The importance of assessing the alternate life strategies of the European eel” in the session on “Joining forces for a better assessment of highly migratory and other wide-ranging species“. Howard Browman (with Szymon Smolinski) presented his work on “The acceptance of manuscripts by ICES Journal of Marine Science is unrelated to the gender of the corresponding author” in the session on “Diversity, equity, and inclusion in marine science and related sectors” and, along with several other ICES Journal of Marine Science editors, led an information session on scientific publishing for early career researchers.
