Located on a farm at Hufthamer, Austevoll (60.117459, 5.211819), the MagLab is equipped with a 1400 liter test tank fed by a seawater reservoir. The tank is surrounded by sets of coiled wires which both cancel the local ambient magnetic field and can generate an artificial magnetic field to study the magnetic orientation and reception capabilities of fish and other aquatic organisms.
