Stord cleanerfish conference 2016

16 June 2016 – Caroline Durif gave a talk, co-authored by Anne Berit Skiftesvik and Reidun Bjelland, on the behavior of wrasse used as cleanerfish on salmon farms. The talk was presented at the cleanerfish conference (aqKva rensefisk) in Stord, Norway at which there were over 100 participants from the salmon industry.

Lumpfish working group meeting

6-10 June 2016 – Caroline Durif participated in the meeting of the lumpfish working group in Nuuk, Greenland. Participants from Norway, Iceland, Canada and Greenland presented methods for assessing the status of lumpfish stocks as well as ongoing research. Cleanerfish conference 2016

8-9 February 2016, Oslo, Norway – Anne Berit Skiftesvik and Reidun Bjelland participated in the “Cleanerfish 2016” conference about the use of cleanerfish as delousing agents on salmon farms. Making the ecosystem approach operational

20-22 January 2016, Copenhagen – Howard Browman participated in the workshop, “Making the ecosystem approach operational“. The workshop addressed challenges and barriers to the implementation of the ecosystem approach to management. Selected contributions to the workshop will be published in the ICES Journal of Marine Science.  

Howard Browman wins award for best departmental lecture of 2015

7 January 2016 – Howard Browman was awarded the prize for best weekly departmental seminar of the year for his lecture, “Applying organized skepticism to ocean acidification research, or some organisms will do just fine in a high CO2 world”. The lecture can be viewed HERE.
