7-11 June 2026 – Howard is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics‘ Council and Trustee Board. He participated in an intense week of discussion over long-standing and emerging issues in scholarly publishing such as preprints, batch retractions, authorship, and AI use (by authors, editors, reviewers…). The retreat was held at the CIM Business Centre, School Lane, Cookham, Maidenhead, SL6 9HQ, UK, in the countryside outside London.
