Hannes Baumann visits the team

26-27 February 2026 – Hannes Baumann, lead scientist of the Evolutionary Fish Ecology Laboratory at the University of Connecticut, visited with us to discuss ongoing and future work on sandeel. A PhD student who is working with Hannes – Emma Siegfried – has been working at the station on the effect of ocean acidification and temperature on sandeel since December. Hannes discussed possible future collaborative work on this, and on the effects of electromagnetic fields associated with subsea power cables,, with Howard and Caroline. Hannes’s first visit to the lab was in… 2002 when he and about 200 delegates at the Larval Fish Conference toured the station.
