25-27 January 2016 – Caroline Durif, Anne Berit Skiftesvik and Howard Browman participated in the ICES WKBECEEL workshop, held at the beautiful and historic Solstrand Hotel in Os, Norway.  The workshop was convened to answer the question,  “Are contaminants in eels contributing to their decline?”. 20-22 January 2016, Copenhagen – Howard Browman participated in the workshop, “Making the ecosystem approach operational“. The workshop addressed challenges and barriers to the implementation of the ecosystem approach to management. Selected contributions to the workshop will be published in the ICES Journal of Marine Science.  

7 January 2016 – Howard Browman was awarded the prize for best weekly departmental seminar of the year for his lecture, “Applying organized skepticism to ocean acidification research, or some organisms will do just fine in a high CO2 world”. The lecture can be viewed HERE.

24-28 May 2015, Nantes, France – Howard Browman and Anne Berit Skiftesvik participated in the ICES-sponsored symposium, Marine Ecosystem Acoustics – Observing the ocean interior across scales in support of integrated management.
