Areas of expertise and interest

My major expertise and research interest is related to functional genomics in marine species. Most of the studies that I have conducted or participated in are related to describe at molecular level the effect of different pathologies to fish and shellfish species. Most of the target species have commercial interest in worldwide or Chilean aquaculture and fisheries. Since a few years I am conducting my Ph.D. project at the University of Concepcion (Chile), and lies in the description at genomic and functional levels of the host-recognition process of the marine copepod sea lice which parasites salmonid species, causing major economical and sanitary issues in worldwide aquaculture.
